More Information on the Research Project, Spring 2007 |
As circumstances (mostly) beyond my control led to several groups getting
written feedback on their first drafts from me much later than I had planned
or anticipated, I have decided to move the deadline for the submission of
the final paper back to Thursday, May 17th, at
10 AM. View this change as
a one-time positive productivity shock —
no further extensions will be granted under
any circumstances, as I must have time to read and evaluate
them in time to submit grades for seniors. (Which now will be a challenge!)
The quid pro quo of this extension is that I unfortunately will not have time to meet with any groups to go over their proposed changes to their papers. I trust that you all will use sound economic judgment in writing your papers, and will make the effort to produce a clear and concise document that you will be proud to send to future potential employers and/or graduate school admissions offices. A few of you may be writing the first draft of your eventual honors thesis. This paper should be a beginning, not an end. Please note that you are under no obligation to take advantage of this extension, and I will look kindly upon those who submit their projects well before the new deadline and thereby allow me to get a head-start on reading. Finally, chances are you got here because you read your e-mail carefully. Let your classmates read the e-mail carefully as well — it will do them more good than they may realize at first — and please do not inform your classmates of the deadline extension: they should find it themselves. (Plus, if you tell, I will find out! If your partner is too busy/frazzled/lazy to read the e-mail the first time, gently encourage them to read the whole thing carefully, one time through.) You should, however, e-mail me to confirm that you have seen this message. Thanks for an enjoyable semester. For those of you leaving Wesleyan, I hope this course has served as a fitting capstone to your undergraduate learning experience. For those of you returning next year, I look forward to seeing you again in the fall. |
